 Bandon Karate Club would like to congratulate Sensei Garett O Donovan and Sensei Yvonne O Sullivan who received 5th Dan Diplomas from Kancho Kanazawa April 2009 The Bandon Shotokan Karate Club was established in January 1978 by Sensei Ray Payne. The Club began training at Watergate Street Dojo and then moved to Allen Institute. Bandon Karate Club is now training in the town hall in Bandon. The club has a strong focus on traditional shotokan karate. The club attracts many guests and foreign visitors. The Bandon club regularly hosts senior karate instructors including Kancho Kanazawa and many more from Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation Headquarters in Tokyo Japan. |

One of the world's most renowned and respected traditional karate masters alive Kanazawa Kancho, 10th Dan. He is the first karateka to have won the notorious All Japan karate Championship. In 1957 kumite champion, In 1958 kumite and kata champion, on one occasion winning the finals whilst nursing a broken wrist from an earlier event.
